The Best Thing to Do in Prizren, Kosovo

Often when you travel you come across something unexpected or breathtaking or something to make you stop in your tracks and go “woah”. It could be beautiful blue water off the coast of a Greek island. It could be an ugly naked man snorkeling in said beautiful blue water. For me it was a sunset from Prizren Fortress in Kosovo and it was the good kind of “woah”.

Prizren isn’t the capital of Kosovo, but it is the 2nd-largest city in the country. Being ignorant of Kosovo — like most people I guess — I was expecting lots of ugly concrete buildings and a country recovering from conflict. Instead, what I got was a quaint, charming place with nice restaurants, friendly people, and views like this from Prizren Fortress. I just had to stop, sit down, and enjoy the moment.

If you’re deciding, like I was, whether to visit Pristina or Prizren in Kosovo, I went for the latter. I never saw Pristina so I can’t comment on which was worth visiting more, but you can’t go wrong with Prizren.
